Andrew Dodt’s golfing journey started at just four years of age at Gatton Jubilee Golf Club, and he’s been making waves ever since. A standout amateur, he dominated the scene with wins like the 2007 Australian Amateur Stroke Play before turning pro later that year. Over his career, he’s competed on the European Tour, Asian Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia, racking up four professional titles and multiple top finishes on the global stage.

1. What do you enjoy most about coaching?

Giving someone a lesson and then watching the moment when everything clicks and they hit a shot they didn’t think was possible.

2. Best piece of golfing advice?

Good things happen from a good setup!

3. What made you want to pursue a career in golf?

I remember my grade 4 teacher asking the class to write down what we wanted to do when we grow up – I wrote down be a professional golfer. I played professionally for 17 years, and am now coaching and loving it.

4. Favourite achievement as a professional?

Playing the British Open in 2017 at Royal Birkdale and finishing tied 44th.

5. Lowest round as a professional and where?

(-11) 61 at Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club during the 2nd Round of the 2019 NSW Open.

7. Favourite golf quote or mantra?

The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.

8. Who is your golfing idol?

Ernie Els – I have always loved his swing and easy-going nature.

9. Favourite sport outside of golf and sporting team?

NRL – I love following and supporting the Newcastle Knights and have been fortunate enough to give some lessons to a few players.

10. What do you love most about Newcastle?

Newcastle is home! I love the people, the lifestyle, beaches, weather & golf courses. I wouldn’t live anywhere else!
